Stars pledge allegiance to their league in new All-Star Game campaign

More than a dozen of baseball’s biggest stars have just one thing to say about the All-Star Game -- “I will win” -- in a new campaign beginning this week promoting next month’s 83rd All-Star Game in Kansas City.

In the new campaign, beginning with a spot titled “The Pledge,” some of the game’s biggest stars -- including Jose Bautista, Prince Fielder, David Freese, Curtis Granderson, Matt Kemp, Evan Longoria, Andrew McCutchen, David Ortiz, Hunter Pence, Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Upton, Justin Verlander, Shane Victorino and CJ Wilson – pledge their loyalty to the American League or National League and discuss their desire to win the All-Star Game and earn home field advantage in the World Series for their league. It was Fielder’s home run off Wilson in the 2011 All-Star Game in Phoenix that propelled the National League to victory, enabling Freese and the Cardinals to have home-field advantage in the epic seven-game 2011 World Series.

The spots will debut this week on FOX, ESPN, TBS, MLB Network and MLB.com. There will also be an online extension at MLBFanCave.com, where fans can “pledge” allegiance to the AL or NL with results updating in real-time. Major League Baseball and Hill Holliday worked with award winning production company HSI and the directing duo of brothers Emmett and Brendan Malloy to produce the spots.
