Indians activate OF Johnny Damon from paternity list; option C Luke Carlin to Columbus

DETROIT, MI  –  The Indians announced today that the club has activated OF Johnny Damon from Major League Baseball's 3-day Paternity List and optioned C Luke Carlin to Triple-A Columbus.

Damon, 38, is currently hitting .180 (16-89) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, one triple, one home run and 5 RBI in 25 games for Cleveland since being added to the roster on May 1. He last appeared on Saturday against Minnesota and is 5-for-17 (.294) over his last 5 games. Damon will be in uniform for tonight's game against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

Carlin, 31, has appeared in 4 games behind the plate for Cleveland (3 starts) since having his contract purchased on May 26 following Carlos Santana's placement on the 7-day Disabled List (mild concussion). Carlin went 3-for-14 (.214) with one double, one RBI and 2 runs scored with the Indians. He began the season on the Clippers’ Opening Day roster and is batting .227 (15-66) with one double, one home run and 10 RBI in 20 games.
