Major League Baseball announced today that Jimmie Lee Solomon has resigned from his position as Executive Vice President of Baseball Development.

Solomon has served Major League Baseball since 1991 in a variety of operational capacities.  He was responsible for the management of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Academies across the country, Minor League Operations, the Civil Rights Game and many initiatives and special events aimed at baseball development.  He served as Executive Vice President, Baseball Operations from June 2005 until being named the head of baseball development in June 2010.

“I want to thank Jimmie Lee for his 20-plus years of service to Major League Baseball and for the contributions he has made in a number of different areas throughout the game,” said Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig.  “He was the point person in several successful Minor League Baseball negotiations and played a key role in our expanded minority and youth efforts.  I wish him all the best as he pursues new challenges.”
