First-Place Dodgers Return Home Monday for Interleague Play

The Dodgers begin their sixth homestand of the season tomorrow as they play their only Interleague home games of the season and take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Monday, June 11 – Wednesday, June 13) and the Chicago White Sox (Friday, June 15 – Sunday, June 17). This homestand features Jaime Jarrín T-Shirt and Tribute Night presented by Univision Radio Monday, June 11, Mike Scioscia Bobblehead Night presented by State Farm Tuesday, June 12 and Father’s Day Catch and Sports Bag presented by United Airlines Sunday, June 17.

Monday, June 11 vs. Los Angeles of Anaheim – 7:10 p.m.

Monday is Jaime Jarrín T-Shirt and Tribute Night presented by Univision Radio Memorial Day at Dodger Stadium.

Hall of Fame Dodger broadcaster Jaime Jarrín, now in his 54th season as “the Spanish Voice of the Dodgers,” will be honored as part of the club’s season-long celebration of Dodger Stadium’s 50th Anniversary. Fans with the first 30,000 tickets Monday will receive a Jaime Jarrín T-Shirt featuring an excerpt of Jarrín’s famous home run call “¡Se va, se va, y se fue… despidala con un beso!” Jarrín has called more than 8,200 regular season games, 25 MLB All-Star games, more than 100 postseason games and 20 World Series during his more than half century with the Dodgers.

The Jarrín Dodger legacy now spans three generations as his son Jorge is in his first season as play-by-play announcer in Spanish for PRIME TICKET and his grandson Stefan played for the champion Arizona League Dodgers last season after being selected by the club in the 40^th round of the 2011 draft. All three Jarríns will throw a ceremonial first pitch. A special pre-game and in-game tribute featuring Jarrín’s friends and colleagues from throughout baseball will be part of Monday’s celebration as well as an on-field presentation by Univision anchors and executives.

The June edition of Dodgers Magazine features a cover photo of Earvin “Magic” Johnson and an exclusive Q&A in which Johnson reflects on his favorite baseball memories and on becoming part owner of the Dodgers. Also inside are features on friends and Oklahoma natives Matt Kemp and Clippers star Blake Griffin, life in the bullpen, historic looks at the careers of Eric Karros and Mike Scioscia and a feature on two barrier breakers on the Dodger medical staff, Sue Falsone and Nancy Patterson. The fifth edition of Dodgers Playbill features a vintage photo of the all-time franchise leader in games caught, Mike Scioscia. Inside are stories on Scioscia, A.J. Ellis, Elian Herrera and the Dodgers’ 2011 first-round draft pick, Chris Reed. Fans will also find Dodger ticket specials and promotional information. The Dodgers Playbill is distributed to fans in their cars when they enter the Dodger Stadium parking lot.

Monday is also Gymnastics Night featuring a pre-game show by Charter Oak Gymnastics, a more than 30-year-old gymnastics and fitness training facility.

Tuesday, June 12 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim – 7:10 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers will celebrate Mike Scioscia Bobblehead Night presented by State Farm. Fans with the first 50,000 tickets will receive a Scioscia bobblehead. The Dodgers will celebrate Scioscia’s contributions to the franchise with the fourth bobblehead in the Dodger Stadium Greats series. Scioscia is Los Angeles’ all-time leader with 1,394 games played at catcher and won two World Series during his 13 seasons with the Dodgers from 1980-92. This is the first Dodger Stadium bobblehead for Scioscia.

Tuesday is also Army Night. General Raymond T. Odierno, the 38th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, will throw the ceremonial first pitch and lead a special Swearing-In Ceremony for U.S. Army recruits on the field. General Odierno’s awards and decorations include four Defense Distinguished Service Medals, two Army Distinguished Service Medals, the Defense Superior Service Medal, six Legions of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Badge.

Members of the 300^th U.S. Army Band Trombones will perform as part of pre-game ceremonies and U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Gigi Theocharides will sing the national anthem and “God Bless America.”

The Veteran of the Game is United States Army Private First Class Bea Cohen, a World War II veteran and the oldest living veteran in California at age 102. Having enlisted in 1942, Cohen has spent more than 70 years serving the United States and supporting the American military. She played on a women’s baseball team in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Wednesday, June 13 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim – 7:10 p.m.

Wednesday concludes the Interleague series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and is Filipino Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium. The Philippine Chamber Singers - Los Angeles (PCS-LA) will perform as part of pre-game ceremonies and Becca Godinez will perform the national anthem.

The Veteran of the Game is U.S. Navy HM2 Daniel Jacobs of Oakland. Daniel “Doc” Jacobs, a Navy corpsman, has served in the U.S. Navy for more than seven years. “Doc” joined 3rd Battalion 7th Marines prior to their deployment to Ramadi, Iraq in September 2005.  Doc was in combat for six and a half months on a seven-month deployment when his gun truck was struck by an I.E.D (improvised explosive device). After two years of recovery, which included losing his left leg, “Doc” returned to the Fleet Marine Force and is the only amputee in the Fleet Marine Force for the U.S. Navy and is the first amputee Corpsman and Naval Personnel to ever be assigned to an infantry unit.

Friday, June 15 vs. Chicago White Sox – 7:10 p.m.

It’s Friday Night Fireworks at Dodger Stadium June 15. At the conclusion of the game, fans are invited to go onto the playing field to watch a Friday Night Fireworks show in which the Dodgers will pay tribute to the greatest moments of the 1990s set to music of that decade.

Dodger alumnus Chuck Essegian will be in Autograph Alley signing for fans from 5:10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Josh Henderson, who plays John Ross Ewing on the new remake show “Dallas” on TNT, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Dodger Jerry Hairston Jr. continues his season-long community program, Hairston’s Heroes, before Friday’s game. Hairston will host youngsters from The Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles Harbor-Wilmington. Kids will receive a T-shirt, meal voucher courtesy of Coca-Cola and a meet and greet on the field during batting practice with Hairston.

Saturday, June 16 vs. Chicago White Sox – 7:10 p.m.

Saturday is Girl Scouts Night at Dodger Stadium with more than 1,000 Girl Scouts and their families in attendance to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America. Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, with 3.2 million girl and adult members worldwide and seeks to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. The Girl Scouts in attendance through this group sale night will receive special edition patches and a pre-game recognition is planned.

Dodger alumnus Derrel Thomas will be in Autograph Alley signing for fans from 5:10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 17 vs. Chicago White Sox – 1:10 p.m.

It’s Father’s Day presented by United Airlines on June 17. Fans with the first 20,000 tickets will receive a sports bag. After the game, Dads and their families are invited on to the field for the Dodgers’ annual Father’s Day Catch.

Major League Baseball has joined the Prostate Cancer Foundation as an official partner in promoting prostate cancer awareness and fundraising. Through the Home Run Challenge, MLB and The Prostate Cancer Foundation raise funds for prostate cancer research by securing pledges for home runs hit during selected Major League Baseball games the week of Father’s Day, June 7-17, 2012. In 2011, 90 home runs were hit during 60 games, raising $1.9 million for prostate cancer research.  Individuals can make a pledge to the Home Run Challenge by calling 1-800-798-CURE (2873) or going online at www.pcf.org up to the start of the last game of the Home Run Challenge on Father’s Day, June 17.

Each team has a designated Prostate Cancer Foundation player representative who endorses the Home Run Challenge and appears in advertisements. Dodger Matt Kemp and 30 Major League managers participate, including Don Mattingly. Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association endorse the program. Also, to help promote prostate cancer awareness on Father’s Day, June 17, 2012, Major League players, managers, coaching staffs, trainers, equipment managers, groundskeepers and umpires will be wearing blue wristbands.

It is also Viva Los Dodgers Day, presented by State Farm, Chevrolet and Time Warner Cable. The season-long initiative is in its third year and celebrates Latino culture in Los Angeles at a family-friendly pregame festival held in lot 6 two hours prior to each Sunday's game.

On Sunday, starting at 11:10 a.m., Grammy-nominated La Vida Boheme and renowned Mexico-city based electronic music project Mexican Institute of Sound will provide entertainment.

Boxers Joselito Lopez and Chris Arreola will sign autographs for fans at Viva Los Dodgers at 11:45 a.m. followed by a first pitch. Lopez is making an appearance to promote his upcoming fight at Staples Center against “Vicious” Victor Ortiz on Saturday, June 23. MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championship Competition is at Dodger Stadium. This spring, more than 650,000 children participated nationwide in MLB’s free Pitch, Hit & Run program. Prior to the game, the top 12 boys and top 12 girls qualifiers from Southern California and Hawaii will compete in hopes of advancing to the National Finals at the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Kansas City, Missouri. The 2012 Los Angeles Dodgers Team Champions will be introduced during pre-game ceremonies.

The Veteran of the Game is Navy Cross recipient and U.S. Marine Corporal Christopher Farias of Houston, Texas.

Dodger pitcher Aaron Harang will host a group of military family members as part of Aaron’s Aces which occurs every Sunday home game. Harang’s guests receive game tickets, complimentary parking and meal vouchers courtesy of Coca-Cola. The group also gets a meet and greet on the field with Harang during batting practice along with an autographed Aaron’s Aces T-shirt.
