A’s Agree to Terms with Four More Players from 2012 First-Year Player Draft

The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with four more players from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today.  The A’s have now signed or agreed to terms with 17 of their 43 picks.

The A’s agreed to terms with one of their two second round picks, catcher Bruce Maxwell from Birmingham Southern.  Maxwell was selected with Minnesota’s second round pick as compensation for the loss of free agent Josh Willingham.  He was named the 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings National Player of the Year after leading the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a .471 batting average, 15 home runs, 25 doubles, 56 runs scored, 59 walks, a .928 slugging percentage and .619 on-base percentage.

Also agreeing to terms were right-handed pitcher Kris Hall (8th round, Lee), outfielder Matthew Hillsinger (22nd round, Radford) and right-handed pitcher Ryan Dull (32nd, UNC-Asheville).

The deadline for signing drafted players is July 13.
