Mets Name Jose Leger Kingsport Manager

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 11, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced Jose Leger will manage Kingsport (R) of the Appalachian League this season.

Leger, a former catcher and infielder who played in the Minnesota Twins’ minor league system from 2004-2008, managed the DSL Mets (R) of the Dominican Summer League the past two seasons. Leger made his coaching debut in 2009 with the DSL Twins as the club’s hitting coach.

Leger attended Middle Georgie College from 2001-2002 and made Georgia’s All-Star team in 2002.  He transferred to Georgia College State University the next year, and was named to the All-Conference team in 2003 and 2004.

Leger has coached in the Dominican Winter League for Tigres del Licey since 2008, and resides in Santo Domingo, DR, with his wife, Estela and their two sons, Jose Joaquin and Eduardo Jose.
