Mariners add Erasmo Ramirez, Franklin Gutierrez, Steve Delabar and Casper Wells to active roster

RHP Blake Beavan & INF Alex Liddi optioned to AAA Tacoma. RHP Stephen Pryor and OF Mike Carp placed on DL.

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today the following roster moves:

  • OF Franklin Gutierrez returned from rehab assignment at AAA Tacoma and activated from 15-day disabled list
  • RHP Erasmo Ramirez recalled from AAA Tacoma
  • OF Casper Wells recalled from AAA Tacoma
  • RHP Steve Delabar recalled from AAA Tacoma
  • OF Mike Carp placed on 15-day disabled list (retro to 6/11) with an inflamed right shoulder
  • RHP Stephen Pryor placed on 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin
  • RHP Blake Beavan optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 6/12)
  • INF Alex Liddi optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 6/12)

Gutierrez (#21), Wells (#33) and Delabar (#35) will be in uniform for tonight’s game vs. the Padres (7:10 pm) at Safeco Field. Ramirez (#50) is scheduled to start Thursday’s series finale vs. the Padres (7:10 pm).

Gutierrez, 29, has been on a rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma since June 2. In 10 games with the Rainiers he batted .211 (8x38) with 5 runs scored, 3 doubles and 1 RBI. Gutierrez was placed on the disabled list on March 28 (retro to 3/24) with a partial tear of his right pectoral muscle suffered Feb. 28 during a spring training workout in Peoria, Ariz.

Ramirez, 22, returns to the Mariners after going 3-2 with a 3.11 ERA (13 ER, 37.2 IP) in 7 starts with the Tacoma Rainiers. Five of his 13 runs allowed were in his fourth start May 22 at Iowa. Overall with Tacoma, Ramirez limited opponents to a .260 batting average (38x146) while recording 29 strikeouts and only 7 walks. He was on the Mariners Opening Day roster, and made 7 appearances out of the bullpen (2.45 ERA) before being optioned to Tacoma on May 5 (Shawn Kelley recalled).

Wells, 27, has appeared in 16 games with Tacoma after being optioned on May 24. He is batting .224 (11x49) with 9 extra base hits (2B – 7, 3B – 1, HR – 1) and 10 RBI. With the Mariners he is hitting .213 (10x47) with 1 home run and 6 RBI in 25 games played (12 starts in LF).

Delabar, 28, was optioned to Tacoma on May 30 (post-game). In four appearances with the Rainiers he allowed only one hit in 5.0 shutout innings. He has appeared in 25 games with the Mariners this season, going 1-1 with a 5.18 ERA (14 ER, 24.1 IP).

Carp, 25, is going back on the disabled list with an inflamed right shoulder. He was on the 15-day DL from March 29-May 1 with a sprained right shoulder suffered during the season opener March 28 vs. Oakland in Tokyo. In 32 games with the Mariners he is batting .157 (13x83) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs and 12 RBI.

Pryor, 22, was removed from last night’s game after 0.1 innings pitched after straining his left groin while fielding his position in the 9th inning. In five appearances with the Mariners he has a 1.69 ERA (1 ER, 5.1 IP) with 5 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut June 2 at Chicago (AL) and recorded one out in the Mariners combined no-hitter June 8 vs. the Dodgers. In 20 combined relief appearance with AA Jackson and AAA Tacoma this season, Pryor had a 0.64 ERA (2 ER, 28.0 IP).

Beavan, 23, is 3-6 with a 5.92 ERA (41 ER, 62.1 IP) in 12 starts. He is 0-2 with a 15.43 ERA (12 ER, 7.0 IP) and 4 home runs allowed over his last two starts. Since being hit in his right elbow by a line drive on May 7 vs. Detroit, is 2-3 with a 7.76 ERA (25 ER, 29.0 IP) and 7 home runs allowed.

Liddi, 23, has appeared in 31 games this season, making starts at third base (17 GS), left field (6 GS) and first base (5 GS). He is batting .231 (24x104) with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 RBI.
