A’s Recall LHP Figueroa from Triple-A Sacramento; Option RHP Ross

The Oakland A’s recalled left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Tyson Ross to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Figueroa joins the A’s for the second time this year.  He was recalled for the first time April 21 and posted a 2.00 ERA in eight games in his Major League debut.  However, he walked nine batters in 9.0 innings and was optioned to Sacramento May 22.  The 26-year-old left-hander posted a 3.18 ERA in seven games following his option and has a 1.96 ERA in 12 Triple-A outings overall.  Figueroa did not allow a home run in 18.1 innings with the River Cats.  He yielded a .179 batting average, including .178 (8 for 45) against right-handed hitters compared to .182 (4 for 22) against left-handers.

Ross was recalled yesterday to start against San Diego and allowed two runs on one hit and four walks in 6.0 innings.  It was his second stint with the A’s this year and he is now 3-6 with a 6.11 ERA in 10 starts with Oakland overall.  Ross is 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts with Sacramento.
