Indians recall RHP Zach McAllister; option LHP Scott Barnes to Triple-A Columbus

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled RHP Zach McAllister from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.  To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians optioned LHP Scott Barnes to Triple-A Columbus after yesterday's game in New York.

McAllister, 24, has spent the majority of the season with the ATriple-AAA Columbus Clippers where he has gone 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts (63.1IP, 59H, 21ER, 5HR, 19BB, 52K, .251AVG).  His ERA (2.98) ranked 8th in the International League following his last start on June 23.  He made 4 starts with the Indians from May 7-24 where he was 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA (25.0IP, 25H, 11ER, 6BB, 22K, .255AVG) and recorded his first Major League win on May 7 (day) vs. Chicago-AL.  After returning to Triple-A on May 25 he has gone 2-1 w/a 3.18 ERA in 5 starts for the Clippers (28.1IP, 29H, 10ER).  He is in Baltimore for his first career start vs. the Orioles tonight.  He wears #34.

Barnes finishes his second stint with the Indians after being recalled on June 25, pitching 2.2 innings in New York-AL on Monday night (2.2IP, 1H, 1R/ER, 1BB, 3K).  He returns to Columbus where he has gone 0-2 with a 3.73 ERA in 14 games/3 starts (31.1IP, 21H, 13ER, 15BB, 35K, .188AVG, 10K/9.0IP).
