Nick Hamilton signs

The Indians today announced that the club has signed INF Nick Hamilton, the organization's 35th round selection in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. He will report to the Indians' Arizona League (Rookie) entry in the coming days.

Hamilton, 22, recently completed his red-shirt junior season at Kent State University, batting .337 (60-178) with 12 doubles, 2 triples, one home run and 35 RBI in 54 games (43 starts). The switch-hitter also compiled an .838 OPS (.394 OBP/.444 SLG) for the Golden Flashes, who earned the school's first ever berth to the NCAA College World Series before getting eliminated by two-time defending-champion South Carolina in Kent State's third game of the tournament.

The Avon Lake HS graduate played one season at Xavier before transferring to Kent State prior to his sophomore year. He is the son of Wendy Hamilton and Indians broadcaster Tom Hamilton.

The Indians have now signed 19 of their 40 selections from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
