2012 Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk sold out

All 4,000 Slots Claimed for 14th Annual Event, but Participants Encouraged to Continue Fundraising for Fisher House Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE - For the fifth year in a row, the annual Brewers Community Foundation 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk has sold out, this time a full month before it is scheduled to occur. Four thousand runners and walkers have claimed all available slots in the 14th annual race, which will take place on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 8:00 am for runners and 8:15 am for walkers. Fans began registering a month before Opening Day and the last slots were filled today.

The unique feature of this event is that participants actually get to test their skills against the World Famous Klement’s Racing Sausages, who also run the course. The race begins at the Klement’s Sausage Haus when the Bratwurst, Hot Dog, Chorizo, Italian and Polish Sausages join the crowd on the course, which then winds through Miller Park. The annual Run/Walk supports the programs of Brewers Community Foundation, the charitable arm of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.

Ed Sedar, Milwaukee Brewers Third Base Coach, is this year’s Celebrity Starter for the Run/Walk and emcee for the post-race trophy presentation.

In addition to enjoying a course that makes its way through the warning track of Miller Park, participants in the Run/Walk receive a commemorative t-shirt, a Terrace Reserved ticket voucher good for one of eight Brewers 2012 home games, a bottle of Aquafina water, a Klement’s hot dog and a Miller beer for participants 21 and older. The overall top male finisher and the overall top female finisher also receive a year’s worth of Klement’s meat products.

Sponsors of this year’s 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk are Brewers.com, Klement’s, MillerCoors, Olympus Group, Pepsi, Prime Time Timing, Rexnord, SportService, Time Warner Cable, Wisconsin Athletic Club, Navy Club USA – WI Squadron, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association WI Chapter 45-1, The Ziegler Companies and 2-Story Creative. All proceeds of the event will help Brewers Community Foundation extend financial support to non-profits that provide quality programming in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.

This year, Brewers Community Foundation has a fundraising component with all proceeds going towards Fisher House Wisconsin. Fisher House provides a “home away from home” for military and veterans families to be close to a loved one while they receive treatment at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Fundraising is available online through July 29 by going to www.brewers.com/5kfundraising where additional information and the official rules can also be found. Fundraising incentive levels start at $100 and go up incrementally with the Grand Prize, which includes an autographed Ryan Braun baseball and a Time Warner Cable One-Year Bundle Package for the highest fundraiser who raises over $5,000.
