Indians recall LHP Scott Barnes from AAA Columbus

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled LHP SCOTT BARNES from Triple-A Columbus.

Barnes, 24, has split the season between Columbus and Cleveland, going 0-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 16 games/3 starts for the Clippers (33.1IP, 22H, 13ER, 15BB, 38K, .185AVG).  As a reliever he has posted an ERA of 2.08 (17.1IP, 10H, 4ER, 8BB, 21K, .159AVG) and has limited right-handed batters to a .169 (14-83) average against for the year at Triple-A.  He has yet to yield a home run in the 33.1 innings and is averaging 10.3 strikeouts per 9.0IP.  Over his last 9 outings with Columbus since May 17 he owns an ERA of 0.77 (11.2IP, 7H, 1ER, 13K).  He is beginning his 3rd stint with Cleveland (May 30-June 14, June 25-27) where he has gone 0-0 with a 7.71 ERA in 5 relief outings (7.0IP, 6H, 6R/ER, 5BB, 7K, .222AVG). He wears #51.

Barnes assumes the spot of LHP NICK HAGADONE, who was optioned to AAA Columbus prior to Saturday’s game.
