Reds acquire pitcher from Braves for Janish

Send Infielder Paul Janish To Atlanta

Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty today announced the acquisition of RHP Todd Redmond from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for IF Paul Janish.

"Redmond will provide us with starting pitching depth in the minor leagues," Jocketty said of the 6-3, 215-pounder. "It's also a great opportunity for Paul to get back to the Major Leagues."

At Class AAA Gwinnett this season, Redmond, 27, is 6-6 with a 3.58 ERA and 1 shutout in 18 appearances, all starts. In 199 career minor league appearances, including 193 starts, he is 69-56 with a 3.57 ERA, 4 complete games and 3 shutouts.

Redmond will be assigned to Class AAA Louisville.

Janish, 29, has spent the season at Louisville, where in 49 games he hit .237. From 2008-2011 he appeared in 324 games for the Reds.
