A's Recall Rosales from Sacramento; Option Hicks to Sacramento

The Oakland A’s recalled infielder Adam Rosales from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned infielder Brandon Hicks to Sacramento, the club announced today.

Rosales joins the A’s for the third time this year and is hitting .167 with three RBI in 13 games with Oakland.  He was on the A’s Opening Day roster in Japan and appeared in one game without an at bat before he was optioned to Sacramento April 2, before the regular season resumed.  Rosales returned May 17 and appeared in 13 games before he was optioned again on June 16.  He batted .283 with six home runs and 28 RBI in 40 games with the River Cats following his option and was hitting .280 with eight home runs and 47 RBI in 76 games overall.  Rosales appeared in 57 games at third base, 13 at second base, five at third base and one in left field.

Hicks was recalled from Sacramento June 23 and batted .183 with three home runs and seven RBI in 20 games with the A’s.  He started 17 games, including 15 at shortstop, one at second base and one at first base, and 15 of those starts came against left-handed pitchers.  Hicks hit .272 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI in 65 games with Sacramento.
