Indians promote LHP Chris Seddon from Triple-A Columbus

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has purchased the contract of LHP Chris Seddon from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.  To allow room on the 25-man roster the Indians have designated RHP Jeremy Accardo for assignment.

Seddon, 28, has spent the entire 2012 season to date with the AAA Columbus Clippers where he has gone 11-5 with a 3.44 ERA in 20 starts (123.0IP, 112H, 55R/47ER, 27BB, 108K, .246AVG).  Over his last 10 starts since June 1 the Northridge, CA native has gone 6-2 with a 2.66 ERA (64.1IP, 53H, 19ER, 12BB, 59K) and for the year has limited left-handed batters to a .194 (20-103) average against. Among International League pitchers he is tied for first in wins, 6th in strikeouts, tied for 7th in innings pitched and tied for 10th in ERA.

Chris was signed in January to a Minor League free agent contract.  Today’s start in Detroit will be his first Major League appearance since Oct. 1, 2010 with Seattle and his first starting assignment since September 29, 2007 with Florida.  He will wear #44.

Accardo has gone 0-0 with a 4.58 ERA in 26 relief outings to date since being called up on May 14 (35.1IP, 38H, 18ER, 16BB, 28K).
