      • The Roundtable Discussion was developed as a platform to stimulate open dialogue surrounding baseball's role in challenging the racial intolerance that was once a norm in our society. Each year this roundtable is moderated by Harvard Law Professor, Charles Ogletree.

  • Delta Civil Rights Game Weekend:

o   Youth Baseball Clinic & Summit – Turner Field at 9:00 a.m.

§  In conjunction with the 2012 Delta Civil Rights Game, the Braves will host the Braves Youth Baseball Clinic & Summit sponsored by Kia and MasterCard in partnership with L.E.A.D. The event will include a baseball skills clinic for 300 pre-selected youth emphasizing hitting, pitching and fielding as well as an educational component providing the history of civil rights.

o   MLB Beacon Awards, presented by Belk – Hyatt Regency, Centennial Ballroom at 1:00 p.m.

§  Each year the MLB Beacon Awards are presented to three individuals who, through their life's work, have left an indelible mark on society. Awards will be presented to Dodgers Legend Don Newcombe, Congressman John Lewis and the founding members of Earth, Wind & Fire.

o   Sixth Annual Delta Civil Rights Game at Turner Field

§  The sixth annual Delta Civil Rights Game between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers at Turner Field, will feature special pregame ceremonies recognizing the 2012 MLB Beacon Award recipients and on-field performances of patriotic songs.

·         Live Music in the Plaza – Fans will enjoy live music in the Plaza as Braves Band of the Year contestant, L&R/The Hollowz, will perform.

 

Sunday, August 19 at 1:35 p.m. vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

·         Alumni Sunday Braves alumni Phil Niekro and Charlie Leibrandt are scheduled to appear pregame to greet fans and sign autographs.

·         Braves Mother-Son Day – Calling all mothers and sons! The Braves invite fans to come out for some special ballpark bonding time at the 2012 Atlanta Braves Mother-Son Day. Each package comes with a special discounted ticket, a commemorative Mother-Son Day T-shirt, and access to a pregame Mother-Son parade on the field.

·         Live Music in the Plaza – Fans will enjoy live music in the Plaza as Braves Band of the Year contestant, Peachtree Jazz Edition, will perform.

·         Hometown Hero – During the 6th Inning the Braves will pay tribute to a local "Hometown Hero" from the United States Military.
