White Sox ‘Charities Week’ to feature two special auctions

WGN-TV Hosts Live &lsquo;Ultimate Auction&rsquo; on Saturday;<br />Comcast SportsNet Chicago Hosts Third Annual &lsquo;Wives Basket Auction&rsquo; on Sunday

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox will host two live auctions culminating White Sox Charities Week.  The specially televised in-game online auctions, one Saturday and one Sunday, feature unique and premium prizes, White Sox memorabilia and VIP experiences.

This season, WGN-TV again will feature the “Ultimate Auction” on Saturday, August 11.  The live online auction will include premium items and experiences available for fans to bid on at whitesox.com, including the following: 

Watch Party at the Park

The winner of this package will have the chance to host a road watch party for 20 in the Gold Coast Tickets Club, with food and beverages provided, on either August 29 or September 20.  The party will receive a group photo on the field and a behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark, featuring an exclusive tour of the home clubhouse.  

Hitting Lesson with Jeff Manto and Meet & Greet with Adam Dunn

Fans can bid on the chance to receive a 30-minute tutorial from hitting coach Jeff Manto and 15 minutes of hitting on the field.  In addition to a meet and greet with Adam Dunn, the winner will receive an autographed Dunn jersey and bat, as well as four premium lower box tickets.  This package is for a mutually agreeable game date in 2012.

All-Star Autograph Package

This package includes autographed All-Star jerseys from Dunn, Paul Konerko, Jake Peavy and Chris Sale, along with different autographed items from players on the current team who have played in the All-Star game.  Additionally, the winner will receive baseball caps signed by Alex Rios, Matt Thornton and manager Robin Ventura, as well as baseballs signed by Orlando Hudson, A.J. Pierzynski, Kevin Youkilis and first base coach Harold Baines.

Southpaw Birthday Party at the Park

The winner of this package will host a special birthday party in a 20-person suite, with food and beverages provided, where White Sox mascot Southpaw will make a half hour visit to entertain guests.  All party attendees will receive a gift bag and take part in a group photo on the field.   

Pitch Perfect

Fans can bid on a private 30-minute lesson with pitching coach Don Cooper for two and a 15-minute session with bullpen coach Juan Nieves for two, as well as first and second ceremonial first pitches for the September 25 game vs. Cleveland.  The winning bidder also will receive a Philip Humber Perfect Game print and four premium lower box tickets.

WGN Press Pass Package

This special broadcast experience includes dinner for four in the United Scout Lounge with Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Steve Stone, a behind-the-scenes tour of the WGN-TV broadcast truck, a tour of the White Sox press box and a chance to announce “play ball.”  The winning bidder also will attend the post-game press conference and receive four premium lower box tickets.

Spring Training Trip

Fans can bid on a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the White Sox Spring Training Facility in Glendale, Ariz.  The getaway includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Camelback Ranch, a meet and greet with White Sox players and the opportunity to throw a ceremonial first pitch at a 2013 Spring Training game.  Also included is a $1,000 travel voucher (all other travel expenses are not included) and two sets of four tickets to 2013 Spring Training games.  This package is for a mutually agreeable game date during the 2013 Spring Training season.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 11, fans can place bids on the auction items at whitesox.com/ultimatebid, with the auction closing at 8:00 p.m. CT that same evening. 

Comcast SportsNet Chicago will feature the third annual “White Sox Wives Basket Auction” during their broadcast on Sunday, August 12.  The auction will feature nine premium baskets assembled by the White Sox Wives.  Viewers will have the opportunity to bid on the baskets throughout the game online.  The special baskets will feature several White Sox players’ favorite everyday items.  Each basket will include goods such as favorite video games, clothes, food, wine and apparel from their other favorite sports teams, as well as at least one autographed item.  

Beginning at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, August 12, fans can place bids on the auction items at whitesox.com/baskets, with the auction closing at 3:00 p.m. CT that same afternoon.
