Twins Outright Rene Tosoni

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Rochester. In 110 games for the Red Wings this season, Carson hit .277 (112-for-405) with 23 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 49 rbi and 60 runs scored.

Carson was acquired by the Twins in November, signing as a minor league free agent.  He has played 46 Major League games, batting .200 (20-for-100) with five home runs and 14 rbi for the Oakland Athletics in 2009 and 2010.

To make room for Carson on the 40-man roster, the Twins have outrighted outfielder Rene Tosoni.  Tosoni is currently playing for Double-A New Britain.
