A's donate $20,000 to charities from funds raised during 20-game win streak weekend

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics announced today that the team will donate $20,000 to charities from money raised this weekend during the club’s celebration of the 2002 A’s record-setting 20-game winning streak. 

Through autograph signings and an exclusive meet-and-greet session with the 2002 team, the A’s raised $10,000 for the Cory Lidle Foundation.  The check was presented to Melanie Lidle and the late pitcher’s son, Christopher, as part of pregame festivities last night at the Coliseum.

In addition, the A’s raised $10,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through ticket sales to the Moneyball movie showing, which was staged on the outfield grass at the Coliseum after last night’s 8-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians.  The check was presented to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation representative Bob Burke prior to today’s series finale against Cleveland.
