Carlos Gonzalez reinstated from the Bereavement List

Guillermo Moscoso Optioned to Triple-A

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has reinstated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the bereavement list. To make room for Gonzalez on the active roster, Colorado has optioned right-handed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Gonzalez will be in uniform and available for tonight’s Rockies at Mets game at Citi Field (5:10 p.m. MDT).

Gonzalez, 26, missed three games while on the bereavement list, all of which were Rockies victories. Gonzalez was named to his first career National League All-Star team in 2012. The Venezuela native is batting .320 (137-for-428) with 25 doubles, 5 triples, 20 home runs, 79 RBI and 78 runs scored in 108 games this season. He ranks among the top-10 of NL players in batting average, RBI, runs, hits, slugging percentage (.542) and on-base percentage (.389) this season. In 554 career Major League games with Colorado (2009-12) and Oakland (2008), Gonzalez is a career .303 (628-for-2,076) hitter with 122 doubles, 25 triples, 97 home runs, 343 RBI, 365 runs and 82 stolen bases.

Moscoso, 29, has made three starts and 10 relief appearances this season for the Rockies, going 0-1 with a 7.53 ERA (34.2 ip, 29 er) in three stints with the Major League club. Moscoso has spent the remainder of his 2012 season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, going 8-5 with a 6.25 ERA (90.2 ip, 63 er), 25 walks and 83 strikeouts in 16 starts starts. The Venezuela native is 8-11 with a 4.26 ERA (177.1 ip, 84 er) in 47 career appearances, 24 starts, in parts of four Major League seasons. He was acquired by Colorado along with left-handed pitcher Josh Outman from Oakland in exchange for Seth Smith on January 16, 2012.

The Rockies have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
