Giants Fan Designs New Tee Shirt

Final design selected from more than 600 entries

Roland Hill, a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan, is the winner of the first, fan designed Giants tee shirt contest, sponsored by Majestic Athletic (the official uniform of the San Francisco Giants), the Giants and mlb.com.

Hill, 50, lives in San Francisco and as an artist had always wanted to create a design for his hometown team.  The contest provided Hill with the opportunity to do just that and his design was one of three selected from more than 600 entries.  His design was then voted on by more than 1,200 fans and emerged as the winner.

The inspiration for the design came from Hill’s favorite broadcast team’s motto of, “GAMER”; his admiration for the New York Mets circle logo featuring the New York skyline; and the Giants having turned every Friday into an “Orange” Friday.  Hill said, “I really wanted my design to appeal to both local San Francisco Giants fans but also to tourists and fans visiting the City.”

As the winner of this inaugural tee shirt design contest, Hill receives a Majestic, personalized jersey, which he requested to have Mike Krukow’s name and number put on the back of, a Majestic gift package, tickets to the Giants game on Aug. 23, the opportunity to watch batting practice from the field and bragging rights that he is the first-ever, fan selected designer of a Giants tee shirt.

Fans can purchase Hill’s tee shirt in any Giants Dugout Store located throughout the Bay Area in San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Jose and Walnut Creek (locations found on www.sfgiants.com).
