Homestand Highlights: August 28-September 6

Homestand Features Great Special Events & “Moose”-takas Antlers Giveaway; Fans Can Celebrate Labor Day at The K with a 1:10 p.m. Matinee

The Royals return to Kauffman Stadium for a 10-game homestand, August 28-September 6, that features series against the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins and reigning American League champion Texas Rangers.  Fans can celebrate Labor Day by coming out to the ballpark for a special 1:10 p.m. matinee against the Rangers on Monday, September 3.

The Detroit series features a number of special events, including an INK Student Night/Local Music Showcase, Frenchy Quarter Thursday and the new Nightlife KC.com Lounge.  During the weekend series against the Twins, fans can enjoy a fan-favorite Buck Night and Fireworks Friday doubleheader and get exclusive “Moose”-takas Antlers in honor of third baseman Mike Moustakas.  In addition, former groundskeeper George Toma will be inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame on Saturday evening.

The Royals finish the homestand with a four-game series against the Rangers that is highlighted by a number of special events, including All You Can Eat Seats for the homestand finale.

  • INK Student Night – Rivals Outfield Box or Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available for all Wednesday home games for high school and college students with valid ID at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for just $7.  Seating is subject to availability.  All Student Nights include a $7 hot dog and beverage special at the Boulevard Grill in the Outfield Experience. 
  • INK Local Music Showcase – Catch a free pregame concert on us.  Every Wednesday INK Student Night also features live local music prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  Making Movies will be performing prior to the Tigers-Royals game.  For details, visit www.royals.com/studentnight.

Thursday, August 30 – Detroit Tigers vs. Royals presented by Sprint, 7:10 p.m.

Friday, August 31 – Minnesota Twins vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Fireworks Friday – A spectacular fireworks show after every Friday home game, presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi.
  • Holland to Meet Fans at Taco Bell – Pitcher Greg Holland will meet fans and sign autographs at Taco Bell, located at 525 NE Coronado Drive in Blue Springs, Mo., from noon-1 p.m.  Fans are invited to come out and meet Holland during this free event.

Saturday, September 1 – Minnesota Twins vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • “Moose”-takas Antlers – The first 10,000 fans get an exclusive set of “Moose”-takas Antlers in honor of Mike Moustakas courtesy of the Kansas City Zoo.  (photo attached)
  • Let Loose Your Inner Moose Contest – Fans were asked to submit their best “MOOOOOSE” calls in support of Mike Moustakas.  One grand prize winner will get to meet the third baseman prior to Saturday’s game and receive in-game recognition for his/her winning call. www.royals.com/moosecontest
  • Toma Inducted into Royals Hall of Fame – Former groundskeeper George Toma will become the 25th member of the Royals Hall of Fame when inducted during a special pregame ceremony.  Toma originally came to Kansas City in 1957 as head groundskeeper for the Kansas City Athletics and served as Royals Head Groundskeeper from the club’s inception in 1969 through the 1995 season.  Toma has also done extensive work with the Kansas City Chiefs and National Football League.
  • 610 Saturday – Enjoy great activities and live music from Down in Flames prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  www.royals.com/610saturdays
  • Butler to Appear at U.S. Toy – All-Star Billy Butler will meet fans and sign autographs at U.S. Toy, located just west of State Line Road at 2008 West 103rd Terrace in Leawood, Kan., from 11 a.m. to noon.  The event is free to the public, but fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to the Bishop Sullivan Center food pantry. 

Sunday, September 2 – Minnesota Twins vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  • Family FunDay Sunday – Each Sunday home game features face painters, caricature and balloon artists and live family-friendly entertainment in the Outfield Experience courtesy of Radio Disney.  All-Day Play Passes for unlimited activities in the Outfield Experience are available for just $10.  www.royals.com/sunday.  
  • Fun Run presented by Sprint – All fans can run the bases after the game (conditions permitting).
