Rangers reinstate INF Michael Young from Paternity Leave List; designate INF Luis Hernandez for assignment

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced this afternoon that the club has reinstated infielder Michael Young from MLB’s Paternity Leave List and designated infielder Luis Hernandez for assignment.

Young was on the Paternity Leave List for 3 games from Friday through Sunday after leaving Thursday’s game early for the birth of his third child that night.  He is batting .271 with 4 homers, 20 doubles, and 50 RBI in 121 games for Texas this season.

Hernandez had his contract purchased from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday and went 0-for-2 in 2 games with Texas over the weekend, including his lone start yesterday vs. Minnesota.  The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release, or outright Hernandez to the minor leagues.

With today’s moves, the Rangers now have 39 players on the club’s 40-man roster.
