Latino Baseball Hall of Fame announces class of 2013 at Marlins Park

The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame will announce the 2013 class at a press conference to be held on Thursday, August 30 at 3 P.M. at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins (501 Marlins Way, Miami, FL). The Latino Baseball Hall of Fame honors the achievements and contributions made by Latin Americans in organized baseball.
 
"Hosting our announcement at Marlins Park is an extraordinary achievement. We are grateful to the hospitality of the Miami Marlins and for hosting this great event, a prelude to the official ceremony of the Class of 2013 to be held in mid-February next year at Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic," said Roberto A. Pinetta Weill, President / Founder of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame.

Created in 2009, the organization has inducted to date fifty Latino stars, including nine members already recognized in Cooperstown: Rod Carew, Juan Marichal, Luis Aparicio, Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda, Tony Perez, Martin Dihigo Christopher Torriente and José de la Caridad Méndez.

Latin American legends and former Major League players will be present at Marlins Park for the announcement. Among the attendees are Cookie Rojas, Victor Davalillo, Felipe Rojas Alou, Minnie Miñoso, Tony Perez, Rafael 'Felo' Ramirez, Tony Fernandez and Tony Armas, Sr.

Following the press conference, Latin American baseball legends together with Marlins players, coaches and other celebrities will join National ID Recovery Fish 'n Chips - A Night of Legends. It will be an evening of fun and stakes at the Craps, Blackjack, Roulette, Dominos and Poker tables together with an array of hors d'oeuvres, signature cocktails, and a silent auction and raffle filled with exciting packages. FISH 'N CHIPS will benefit the Marlins Foundation's youth baseball initiatives. All proceeds will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs baseball programs and Marlins RBI, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. The event will take place at Marlins Park and will begin at 6:30 P.M.
