Edwin Encarnacion named Honda Player of the Month

TORONTO BLUE JAYS 1B EDWIN ENCARNACION has been named the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for August by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA. Honda, the official vehicle of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charity of Edwin's choosing.

ENCARNACION, 29, earned his 2nd award this season, winning by a unanimous vote. The right-handed hitter batted .270 with a team leading seven home runs and 18 RBI.  The native of La Romana, Dominican Republic now ranks 3rd in the AL and 5th in the Major Leagues with a .953 OPS on the season.

RHP Steve Delabar (2.93 ERA, 28 K/15.1IP) and LHP Aaron Loup (1.59 ERA) finished second in the voting, while RHP Carlos Villanueva and LHP J.A. Happ also received mention.
