A’s third baseman Brandon Inge undergoes successful surgery

OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Athletics third baseman Brandon Inge underwent successful arthroscopic surgery of his right shoulder to repair his labrum yesterday, the club announced today.

Inge, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sept. 6 with a strained right shoulder, had the operation performed in Detroit by Dr. Stephen Lemos, the Tigers’ orthopedic surgeon.  While there is no timetable for Inge’s return, he is certain to miss the remainder of this season.

He batted .218 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 54 RBI in 83 games with the Tigers and A’s this season.
