Dodgers Send Rubby De La Rosa and Jerry Sands to Boston to Complete August Trade

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that right-handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa and outfielder/first baseman Jerry Sands were traded to Boston as the players to be named later in the August 25 deal that brought right-handed pitcher Josh Beckett, outfielder Carl Crawford, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and infielder Nick Punto to Los Angeles. The Dodgers already sent first baseman James Loney, pitcher Allen Webster and infielder Ivan De Jesus to the Red Sox in the nine-player trade, which was the largest in Los Angeles Dodger history.

De La Rosa, 23, spent much of the 2012 campaign rehabbing from Aug. 9, 2011 Tommy John surgery and made just one Major League appearance, allowing two runs in 0.2 innings on Aug. 22. Sands, 26, was selected as the designated hitter on the All-Pacific Coast League team, batting .300 with 25 homers and 100 RBI in 119 games for Triple-A Albuquerque, and appeared in nine big league games for the Dodgers, hitting .174 with two doubles and an RBI
