Rockies statement regarding Joe Cullinane

Broadcaster for Bears, Zephyrs and Rockies

DENVER -- Today the Colorado Rockies mourn the passing of legendary baseball broadcaster and author Joe Cullinane.  Joe came to Denver in 1975 and joined the Denver Bears radio broadcast team after a distinguished broadcasting career in Rochester, New York. He proudly represented the Bears and later the Zephyrs until the Rockies arrived in 1993.  For two seasons he was a member of the Rockies radio team with his pregame show “Classic Cullinane” features. He later authored the book, “Face to Face with Sports Legends” and was a fixture in the Coors Field press box.

“His loss will be felt by all of us that knew him and enjoyed his great passion for our game and the stories he told,” said Dick Monfort, Rockies Owner/Chairman and CEO.  “On behalf of the Rockies organization, I send my deepest condolences to the Cullinane family and to all those who were touched by Joe.”
