Mariners add Tim Kissner as Director of International Operations

Kissner spent previous two seasons as Cubs West Coast crosschecker

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that Tim Kissner has been named Director of International Operations for the team.

"Tim is a high-energy guy with 14 years of scouting experience," Zduriencik said. "He is a nice addition to our organization, with a strong ability to evaluate and supervise, paired with a very strong work ethic."

Kissner will oversee all aspects of the Mariners international scouting operation, including all international scouts, and will work hand-in-hand with the Mariners Player Development department once international players are signed.

"I am very excited to join the Mariners organization," Kissner said. "I am looking forward to getting to work immediately; in fact, I leave for the Dominican Republic tonight."

Kissner spent the 2011-2012 seasons as the Chicago Cubs West Coast crosschecker. He worked for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2000-2010, including working as the Pacific Rim coordinator from the end of 2008 through the 2010 season. Kissner had also scouted the Northwest and Southern California for the Phillies.

Kissner began his scouting career with the Cleveland Indians as an area scout in 1999-2000.

Joining the Mariners is a homecoming for Kissner. He resides in Kirkland, Washington, graduated from Oregon State University, and is a native of Juneau, Alaska.
