Pirates sign Minor League free agent pitcher Mike Zagurski

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Mike Zagurski to a minor league contract that includes an invitation to Major League spring training. The announcement was made by Pirates Director of Minor League Operations, Larry Broadway.

The 29-year-old Zagurski made 45 relief appearances with Arizona in 2012 and posted a 5.54 ERA (37.1ip/23er) with the Diamondbacks. He also made six appearances with Triple-A Reno, where he produced a 2.00 ERA (9.0ip/2er).

Zagurski was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 12th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft and has made a total of 82 relief appearances in the Major Leagues with the Phillies (2007, 2010-11) and Diamondbacks.
