Brewers fans respond in incredible numbers as "Design a YOUniform" contest deadline approaches
Over 500 Designs Have Been Submitted by Fans to Date; Entry Deadline is 11:59 p.m. CT on Thursday
MILWAUKEE -- Brewers fans are reminded that the deadline to enter one of the most unique contests in sport is fast approaching. The Milwaukee Brewers are seeking creative fans to participate in their “Design A YOUniform” contest by submitting an original and creative design for a Brewers uniform. The winner will receive a trip to Brewers Spring Training 2013 to see their design worn by the team on the field at a Cactus League game.
Fans are asked to visit Brewers.com/uniform or the Brewers Team Store by Majestic at Miller Park to download or pick up a design template. Templates include a blank jersey and blank hat that can be filled in digitally or by hand. Completed designs can be uploaded to Brewers.com/uniform or dropped off at the Brewers Team Store by Majestic. The deadline for receiving entries is 11:59 p.m. CT on Thursday.
All submitted designs will be reviewed by an internal Brewers committee that will narrow the submissions to four finalists. On Tuesday, January 15 at 10 a.m. CT, those four finalists will be announced on Brewers.com and a fan vote will open online. In addition to the fan vote, a panel of voters including Brewers pitcher John Axford, Brewers President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Doug Melvin and Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger will judge the finalists.
The fan vote will remain open until Tuesday, January 22 at 10 a.m. CT and on that day, the fan vote and judge scores will be tallied to determine a winner. The four finalists will receive a trip to Milwaukee for Brewers On Deck at the Delta Center on Sunday, January 27 where John Axford will announce the winner on the Main Stage.
The hats and uniforms from the winning design will be worn by all Brewers players and coaches at the Friday, March 22 Spring Training game at Maryvale Baseball Park against the Chicago Cubs. The winner will receive airfare for two, tickets to the game to see the uniform in action and $1,500 for hotel, ground transportation and other incidental expenses. The winner will also have the opportunity to select the jersey and hat worn by one player from that day, plus will receive 10 t-shirts and hats made from their design.
