White Sox pitchers John Danks and Matt Thornton to attend Soxfest, along with legendary former Manager Tony La Russa

The Chicago White Sox today announced pitchers John Danks and Matt Thornton are joining the list of current players scheduled to attend SoxFest 2013, along with legendary former manager Tony La Russa – skipper of the 1983 American League West Division Champion White Sox.

In addition to Danks and Thornton, the new expanded list of current White Sox team members scheduled to attend SoxFest includes:  Adam Dunn, Tyler Flowers, Gavin Floyd, Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez, Addison Reed, Chris Sale, Dayan Viciedo, as well as new first base coach and former Sox slugger Daryl Boston, new bullpen coach and record-setting team closer Bobby Thigpen and manager Robin Ventura.

Tony La Russa, who started his Major League managing career with the White Sox (1979-1986), will join other former members from the 1983 team at SoxFest.  White Sox legend and current assistant hitting coach Harold Baines, 1983 American League Rookie of the Year Ron Kittle, slugging fan favorite Greg Luzinski and first baseman, as well as former broadcaster, Tom Paciorek all are scheduled to attend SoxFest.  This year marks the 30 year anniversary of the beloved “Winning Ugly” team.

SoxFest 2013, presented by Miller Lite, Pepsi and Comcast SportsNet, will be held the Palmer House Hilton Friday, January 25, Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27, 2013.  Two-night hotel reservations at the Palmer House Hilton for SoxFest, along with weekend passes to the event, remain available.

The special SoxFest hotel rate is $278 (plus applicable taxes and fees, which are detailed on whitesox.com) for a two-night stay.  White Sox fans may purchase up to two rooms per reservation, and fans who purchase a two-night stay are eligible to purchase up to four SoxFest weekend passes at $75 each.  SoxFest hotel packages and weekend passes can again be purchased in the same online transaction at whitesox.com.  Weekend passes are only available for purchase by fans who book the two-night stay.

The White Sox again are offering fans a unique experience at SoxFest – the Premium Upgrade Package.  The offering, a favorite among hundreds of past SoxFest attendees, is available only to fans who already have purchased or will purchase the SoxFest hotel package and weekend pass(es).  Details on the Premium Upgrade Package are available at whitesox.com/SoxFest.

Among the other former White Sox players scheduled to attend SoxFest:  the slugging outfielder from the 1970s Carlos May; 2005 World Series heroes Joe Crede, Jermaine Dye and Aaron Rowand; former Sox ace and Cy Young winner Jack McDowell; and all-time White Sox great Frank Thomas.  Sox television broadcasters Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Steve Stone, as well as the radio team of Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson, also are scheduled to attend the event.

SoxFest 2013 dates and times are:  Friday, January 25, 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, January 26, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and Sunday, January 27, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
