Beginning today fans are encouraged to vote online and via Twitter for Pirates All-Star center fielder

Pittsburgh Pirates' Andrew McCutchen named finalist for cover of Sony's MLB 13: The Show

Pittsburgh Pirates' All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen was named a finalist for the cover of Sony's MLB 13: The Show, video game. The cover will be chosen by fans, who are encouraged to vote online and thru social media outlets beginning today, January 7 thru Friday, January 11.

Votes will be tallied thru online voting at MLB.com/covervote and by uses of the player-specific hashtags on Twitter. McCutchen's hashtag is #MLB13CUTCH and fans are encouraged to use the hashtag with every tweet during the voting period, as every use of the hashtag is counted as an individual vote.

McCutchen is one of seven finalists for the cover of the popular video game, as the list includes:

• San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey
• Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp
• Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun
• Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper
• New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia
• Detroit Tigers infielder Miguel Cabrera

McCutchen is the only player on the list to win both the Louisville Silver Slugger and the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards last season as he finished third in the National League Most Valuable Player voting. In 2012 McCutchen participated in his second consecutive All-Star game, was named N.L. Player of the Month in back-to-back months (June and July) and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the N.L. by the Major League Baseball Players Association (an award voted on exclusively by MLB players).

In 2012, he led all N.L. batters in hits (194) and ranked second in batting average (.327), on-base percentage (.400), slugging percentage (.553) and total bases (328), while becoming just the fourth Pirates player to steal 20 bases and hit at least 30 home runs (31) in a season.

McCutchen will be encouraging fans from his personal Twitter account (@TheCUTCH22) to take part in the voting by tweeting and retweeting #MLB13CUTCH all week, as will the Pirates official Twitter account (@Pirates).
