Blue Jays sign Loewen

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed OF ADAM LOEWEN to a minor league contract for the 2013 season with an invite to Major League spring training.

 LOEWEN, 28, spent most of last season with Buffalo of the International League (AAA) in the Mets organization, posting a .227 average with eight home runs and 26 RBI. The Surrey, British Columbia native spent the 2009-11 seasons in the Blue Jays organization converting to a position player from a pitcher. In 2011 with Las Vegas (AAA) the left-handed hitter batted .306 with 67 extra base hits.
