Royals announce 2013 Promotions & Special Events

KANSAS CITY, MO (January 22, 2013) – As the 2013 Kansas City Royals campaign approaches, the club has announced its promotions and special events calendar for the upcoming season.  This year’s schedule features great giveaways, the return of fan favorites and the introduction of special offers, which allow fans to experience all the ballpark’s offerings at exceptional values. 

Highlights from the 2013 lineup of events, giveaways, and ticket offerings are listed below.  In addition, the complete special events schedule is attached and can also be found at www.royals.com/promotions.  Please note all dates and times are subject to change.

EXCITING PROMOTIONS

Billy Butler Silver Slugger TM Bobblehead: In honor of the 2012 Silver Slugger™ Award winner for American League Designated Hitter, the Royals commemorate Butler with a special edition Billy Butler Silver Slugger™ Bobblehead, presented by Sprint. The bobblehead will be given out on Saturday, May 4 vs. the Chicago White Sox to the first 10,000 fans.

Pashmina Scarf:  The Royals honor all mothers with a special Mother’s Day giveaway on Sunday, May 12 vs. the New York Yankees.  The first 10,000 ladies will receive a Royals Pashmina Scarf presented by Diet Pepsi.

Condiment Bobblehead Series: Collect them all!  On three separate dates, the first 10,000 fans will receive a bobblehead from the Hot Dog Derby Race presented by Hy-Vee and Farmland. 

        Ketchup Bobblehead – Saturday, May 25 vs. Los Angeles Angels

        Mustard Bobblehead – Saturday, June 22 vs. Chicago White Sox

        Relish Bobblehead – Saturday, July 20 vs. Detroit Tigers

Retro Powder Blue Jersey:  Back by popular demand is a retro giveaway.  Saturday, June 8 vs. the Houston Astros will be Retro Night, where the Royals turn back the clock for a nostalgic experience.  The first 10,000 fans will also receive a Retro Powder Blue Jersey, presented by FOX Sports Kansas City.

Salute to the Negro Leagues:  The Royals will pay tribute to Kansas City’s baseball past with this annual celebration and pregame ceremony on Saturday, August 24 vs. the Washington Nationals.  The Royals will be sporting Kansas City Monarchs uniforms provided by Sprint and the Nationals will don jerseys from the Washington Homestead Grays.  Also, the first 10,000 fans will be given a Kansas City Monarchs Vintage T-Shirt. 

Celebrity Classic Game: Be a part of the celebrity experience again in 2013 when our hometown celebrities, Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle and Jason Sudeikis, host the 3rd Annual Big Slick Celebrity Classic Game at The Little K on Friday, July 19 prior to the start of the game against the Detroit Tigers.  Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal with your favorite celebrity. 

RETURNING FAVORITES

Value Monday presented by Hy-Vee:  Every Monday home game (excluding Opening Day and 5/27), fans can get a $7 Hy-Vee Outfield ticket, courtesy of Hy-Vee.

T-Shirt Tuesdays:  The fan favorite T-Shirt Tuesdays return in 2013!  This season’s series will include six unique designs on May 28, June 4, June 25, July 23, August 13 (fan vote), and September 17. 

Student Nights: Rivals Outfield Box or Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available for all Wednesday home games for high school and college students with valid ID at the Stadium Box Office for just $7.  Seating is subject to availability. 

Frenchy Quarter: Back by popular demand is the fan cheering section for outfielder Jeff Francoeur.  Every Thursday home game (excluding May 2), fans will be able to purchase a $21 ticket that includes a new Frenchy Quarter T-Shirt, blue Mardi Gras beads, and a seat in the right field Outfield Box. A $35 value!

Buck Nights: For eight select Friday dates throughout the season, fans can purchase hot dogs, small Pepsi products and peanuts for just $1 each.   The fan favorite is scheduled for April 26, May 3, May 24, June 21, July 5, July 19, August 23, and September 6. 

Summer Fireworks: Stay in your seats for a spectacular fireworks show following select Friday night home games presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi. 

Family FunDay Sundays: Join in on all of the fun on Sundays in 2013.  Every Sunday home game will feature special entertainment by the Radio Disney Rockin’ Road Crew and activities in the Outfield Experience.  Also, kids can run the bases after the game during the Sprint Fun Run (weather permitting).  For details, visit www.royals.com/Sundays.

KidsFest: On Sunday, July 21 vs. the Detroit Tigers, the Royals celebrate young baseball fans with a special event dedicated to kids!  With pregame activities, entertainment and a lot of fun in the Outfield Experience, kids will rule the day.   The first 5,000 kids 14 and under will also receive a Sluggerrr Bank.

Girls Night Out: Ladies, plan on spending the night out at The K on Friday, June 7 vs. the Houston Astros.   Come to the Outfield Experience before the game to receive the Royal treatment with various booths, activities, and events catered for women of all ages.  The event benefits the American Heart Association.  In addition, the first 10,000 females through the gates will receive a special gift presented by KC Chevy Dealers.                                                 

Fan Appreciation Night:  This annual tradition to salute Royals fans, presented by Sprint, will be on Saturday, September 21 vs. the Texas Rangers.  The first 10,000 people will receive a Royals blanket, and there will be prizes given away throughout the game.

Sonic Slam Seats: When a Royals player hits a home run that lands in the Sonic Slam Seats located in left-center field, ALL fans win a free medium Sonic Slush by redeeming their ticket stub at participating Sonic locations by midnight the following day!  Fans sitting in the Sonic Slam Seats will also win a $5 My Sonic Card.

50/50 Raffle: Royals Charities is excited to announce the popular 50/50 Raffle will be sold at every Royals home game this season.  It’s an in-stadium fundraiser where a lucky fan can win big!  Staff will sell raffle tickets from the time gates open until the end of the sixth inning.  One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening's net proceeds.  The other half will be donated to Royals Charities.
