Orioles Agree to Terms with RHP Darren O'Day on Two-Year Contract with Club Option for 2015

The Orioles today announced that they have agreed to terms with RHP DARREN O'DAY on a two-year contract with a club option for 2015, thus avoiding arbitration.

O'Day, 30, went 7-1 with a 2.28 ERA (67.0IP, 17ER), setting career-highs in wins (7 - 2nd among AL relievers), games (69), IP (67.0) and strikeouts (69) in 2012.  It was his first season with the O's after being claimed on waivers from Texas on November 2, 2011.  He is 15-6 with a 2.73 ERA (247.2IP, 75ER) in 255 career games with the Angles (2008), Mets (2009), Texas (2009-2011) and Baltimore (2012).

Last season, O'Day stranded 37 of 43 inherited runners (86.0%), the 3rd best mark in the AL, and went 4-0 with a 1.10 ERA (32.2IP, 4ER) in 36 games vs. AL East opponents, holding hitters to a line of .135/.207/.270.  He tossed 2.0 scoreless innings (H, K) in the AL Wild Card Game at Texas and made four scoreless appearances (5.0IP, BB, 4K) in the American League Division Series against the Yankees.

All arbitration-eligible Orioles have now agreed to terms for 2013.
