Grow With the Pros Open House Postponed

Royals Postpone March 23 Event due to Inclement Weather Forecast

KANSAS CITY, MO (March 18, 2013) - The Kansas City Royals have announced the postponement of the Grow with the Pros Open House scheduled for Saturday, March 23 from 10 am.-2 p.m. due to a long-range forecast calling for cold temperatures and a chance of snow for the Kansas City area this weekend.  The Royals have also postponed the opportunity for fans to come out to Kauffman Stadium to view season ticket seat locations and enjoy a 20 percent discount in the Majestic Team Store.

The Royals are looking to reschedule the event, and an announcement will be made at a later date.

Grow with the Pros, which debuted last year and is sponsored in conjunction with Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, was designed to give fans an opportunity to learn tips and techniques on grass and field maintenance from the Royals Grounds Crew and participating vendors.

"We had a beautiful spring day on our first Grow with the Pros a year ago," said Trevor Vance, Royals Director-Groundskeeping and Landscaping.  "Unfortunately, the forecast just didn't work well this time around for a successful event.  We're looking forward to hosting our second Grow with the Pros in the future.  In the meantime, we're working to have the field at Kauffman Stadium perfect for Opening Day on April 8."

Fans can still learn about a great variety of season ticket packages by visiting royals.com or by calling (816) 504-4040, option 2.  Season ticket packages include 21-game, half-season or full-season plans.  Fans can also select the games that work best with their individual schedules with the Royals 15 Pick'em Plan.  Through the Pick'em Plan, which starts at just $150 for a minimum of 15 games, fans can choose from all 81 home games (including Opening Day) to build a perfect 15-game plan!

Despite the Grow with the Pros event postponement, Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund will still donate $10,000 to both Lee's Summit (Mo.) North High School and Grain Valley (Mo.) High School for baseball field upgrades.  The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) is a joint initiative between the Major League Baseball Players Association and Major League Baseball designed to promote the growth of youth baseball and softball throughout the world by awarding grants to support field renovation and construction projects, equipment and uniform purchases, coaches' training materials and other selected program expenses.  Royalty Fields, an ongoing Royals Charities matching grant program, provides financial support to improve baseball and/or softball facilities throughout the Midwest.  Since its inception in 2006, Royalty Fields has awarded more than 60 matching grants.
