Eduardo Najera To Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch On Thursday

Texas Rangers host Mexico City Red Devils at 7:05 p.m. at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington

Arlington, TX-Former NBA forward Eduardo Najera will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Thursday's exhibition game between the Texas Rangers and the Mexico City Red Devils (Diablos Rojos del Mexico) of the Triple-A Mexican League at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, it was announced today.

Tickets for the 7:05 p.m. game can be purchased at texasrangers.com, by calling 972.RANGERS and at the Rangers Ballpark First Base Ticket Office. Tickets are priced at $20.00 for Lower Level and All You Can Eat Seats, $15.00 for Club Level Seats, and $10.00 for Upper Level Seats.

Najera was just the second native of Mexico to ever play in the NBA when he made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. He played from 2000-12 with five teams including two different stints with the Mavericks (2000-04; 2010). Najera is current the head coach of the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League.

This is the second consecutive year that the Rangers have played the Red Devils team in Arlington. Texas defeated Mexico City, 13-4 before a crowd of 30,829 on April 2, 2012. It was the first time that the Rangers had played a Mexican League team in Arlington.

Texas is scheduled to start right-hander Yu Darvish in his final spring training outing. Mexico City's probable starter is right-hander David Reyes, the Mexican Winter League's 2012-13 Rookie of the Year. A pair of former Rangers, pitcher Esteban Loaiza and infielder Ben Broussard are on the Red Devils roster.

There will be pre-game performances by Ballet Folklórico de Fort Worth and Mariachi Michoacán and Norma Valles will sing both the American and Mexican National Anthems.
