Padres announce Opening Day roster

Club selects contracts of INFs Jedd Gyorko and Cody Ransom

The San Diego Padres today announced a number of roster moves, finalizing their Opening Day roster. The club today selected the contracts of infielders Jedd Gyorko and Cody Ransom, placed infielders James Darnell (retroactive to March 22), Logan Forsythe (retroactive to March 27) and Chase Headley (retroactive to March 22) on the 15-day disabled list and placed left-handed pitcher Cory Luebke and right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly on the 60-day disabled list.  Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcements.

With today's announcements, the Padres have set their Opening Day 25-man roster. The roster features nine right-handed pitchers, three left-handed pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and six outfielders.  Three players will be making their first appearance on a Major League team's Opening Day roster, including Jedd Gyorko, Eric Stults and Dale Thayer.
