D-backs Recall Harris From Reno, Place Putz On 15-Day DL

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled right-handed pitcher Will Harris from Triple-A Reno and placed right-handed pitcher J.J. Putz on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Harris, 28, had 2 saves and a 4.63 ERA (6 ER in 11.2 IP) in 12 relief appearances for the Aces. He held opponents to a .245 average (12-for-49) with 6 walks and 23 strikeouts and limited righties to a .130 average (3-for-23) with 3 walks and 12 strikeouts. In his last 8 games spanning 8.0 innings, he had 14 strikeouts and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 3 walks. He was claimed off waivers on April 6 from the Oakland Athletics.

Harris will wear No. 38. He got his lone Major League action last season with the Colorado Rockies, appearing in 20 games with a 1-1 record and an 8.15 ERA (16 ER in 17.2 IP). This is his eighth season in professional baseball.

Putz, 35, suffered his injury in the ninth inning last night at the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 14 games this season, he was 2-1 with 5 saves and a 4.26 ERA (6 ER in 12.2 IP). In 131 games spanning 3 seasons with the D-backs, he is 5-8 with 82 saves and a 2.66 ERA (37 ER in 125.0 IP).
