Roster moves

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have optioned LHP RICKY ROMERO to Buffalo of the International League (AAA) and designated RHP EDGAR GONZALEZ for assignment. RHP RAMON ORTIZ and RHP MICKEY STOREY have had their contracts selected from Buffalo.

ORTIZ, 39, returns to the Blue Jays for a second time this season after making one relief appearance on April 17 vs. CWS (3.2IP, 2ER). The 12-year Major League veteran has spent the majority of 2013 in Buffalo posting a 2-0 record in four appearances, three starts with a 2.18 ERA. In 297 Major League games, 214 starts, he has recorded an 86-84 record with a 4.93 ERA.

STOREY, 27, has appeared in nine games, all in relief for the Buffalo Bisons in 2013, posting a 0-1 record with a 3.93 ERA, striking out 23 in 17.1 innings. The 6-1, 185 pound right-hander made his Major League debut in 2012 with Houston, going 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 26 relief appearances.
