Padres recall RHP Nick Vincent

Option RHP Anthony Bass to Triple-A Tucson

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Nick Vincent from Triple-A Tucson and have optioned right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass to Tucson. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

Vincent, 26, has spent the entire season with Triple-A Tucson, going 4-3 with a 4.15 ERA (10 ER, 21.2 IP) with 17 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances. He split the 2012 season between the minors and the Padres, making his Major League debut and going 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA (5 ER, 26.1 IP) with 28 strikeouts in 27 relief appearances. In parts of six minor league seasons he has combined to go 4-3 with a 4.15 ERA (114 ER, 326.2 IP) in 242 appearances including 10 starts. Vincent was originally signed as an 18th-round selection in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.

Bass, 25, posted a 4.55 ERA (16 ER, 31.2 IP) with 23 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances with the Padres this season. He has a 2.60 ERA (8 ER, 27.2 IP) with 19 strikeouts in his first 15 appearances of the season before allowing eight runs over his last three outings (8 ER, 4.0 IP). Bass was originally drafted by the Padres in the 5th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
