Twins select contract of outfielder Clete Thomas

Left-Handed Pitcher Tyler Robertson Designated for Release or Assignment

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Clete Thomas from Triple-A Rochester. Thomas has appeared in 36 games for the Red Wings, hitting .296 (37-for-125) with eight doubles, nine home runs and 25 RBI. The 28-year old outfielder appeared in 12 games for the Twins last year after being claimed off waivers from Detroit in April.

Additionally, left-handed pitcher Tyler Robertson was designated for release or assignment, making room for Thomas on the 40-man roster. Robertson, who was drafted by the Twins in the third round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, made the Twins Opening Day roster before being optioned to Triple-A on April 6.

Thomas will join the team in Kansas City and wear uniform number 11.
