Pirates to host Women's Baseball Clinic at PNC Park
Participants will receive baseball instruction from Pirates coaches
The Pittsburgh Pirates will host the third annual Pitch for Hope Women's Baseball Clinic, a baseball skills workshop, on Sunday, June 30. Women ages 14 and older are invited to PNC Park for a day of baseball specific events in support of A Glimmer of Hope, a Pittsburgh based breast cancer research organization funding breast cancer research since 1996.
The baseball instructional clinic with Pirates coaches will take place on the field from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will give participants the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of pitching, hitting and fielding as they visit different workshop stations set up around the field. Pirates players will visit the women at the end of the clinic for a special Q&A session. The morning event is made possible with the support of Highmark, Rue 21 and Eckert Seamans.
This year Pitch for Hope will support the funding of cutting edge 3D-automated breast ultrasound equipment at the Allegheny General Hospital Breast Care Center. This machine is specifically designed to detect additional breast cancers in women with dense breasts, not seen by traditional mammography.

"This is a great opportunity to have a unique experience on the field at PNC Park and help the Pirates and A Glimmer of Hope to raise funds for breast cancer research."
The cost of the clinic is $60 per person and following the morning event, each participant will have the chance to enjoy a catered brunch on the Pirates Deck and stay for the Pirates game at 1:35 p.m. vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. In addition to the game ticket, all participants will receive a complimentary specially designed t-shirt.

About A Glimmer of Hope
In 1996 A Glimmer of Hope organization's founder Diana Napper designed the first Glimmer of Hope pin and began selling them with the proceeds going to breast cancer research. Since that time, the organization has raised over $1.8 million for breast cancer research.
