Blue Jays Select Bickford With 10th Overall Selection

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have selected RHP PHILLIP BICKFORD with the 10th overall selection in the 2013 First Year Player Draft.

BICKFORD, 17, is from Ventura, California and attended Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, California. The 6-4, 200 pound right-hander led his high school club to its first Southern Section Division 4 Championship, where fanned 18 in the final, including 11 consecutive. Bickford finished his senior season with a 1.72 ERA, allowing 44 hits and recording 159 strikeouts in 99.1 innings.
