Indians place RHP Zach McAllister on 15-day DL; recall RHP Carlos Carrasco from AAA

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Placed RHP ZACH McALLISTER on the 15-day Disabled List with a right middle finger sprain, retroactive to June 3.

Recalled RHP CARLOS CARRASCO from AAA Columbus.

McAllister has been battling right middle finger soreness his last several starts and begins his first career stint on the Major League DL. So far in 2013 he is 4-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 11 starts (65.2IP, 68H, 25ER, 22BB, 45K). He is eligible for reinstatement on June 18.

Carrasco has spent most of the season in the rotation at Triple-A Columbus where he has gone 2-0 with a save and a 3.21 ERA in 10 games/9 starts (47.2IP, 40H, 19R/17ER, 14BB, 50K, .225AVG). His 3.21 ERA currently ranks 11th in the International League as he has limited left-handed batters to a .165 (13-79) average against. He made one start for Cleveland on April 9 vs. New York-AL (3.2IP, 7H, 7R/ER) after opening the season in the big league rotation. He will start today's game against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
