Lehigh Valley IronPigs - International League North Division…32-31, 3rd place… 6-1 for the week… The Pigs have won 11 of their last 12 games at home and as of print, are currently over .500 for the first time since 4/18 when they stood at 7-6… Lehigh Valley has gone 16-7 in their last 23 G after standing a season-worst 16-24 on 5/16… LV's offense was paced by 1B Cody Overbeck who hit .435 (10-for-23), 2 HR, 4 2B, 9 RBI… INF Michael Martinez earned Player of the Week honors hitting .500 (11-for-22), 2 HR, 2B… 3B Cody Asche has hit safely in 11 of last 12 games…For the week Asche hit .310 (9-for-29), 3 2B, 3B… As of print Asche leads the Pigs in games played (62), hits (68), RBI (39) & total bases (108)… OF Darin Ruf went 3-for-5 with a 2B in LV's 14-hit victory 6/8 vs Charlotte… OF Steve Susdorf hit .294 (5-for-17), 2 2B, SB and is hitting .333 (13-for-39) over his last 12 G... The Pigs were backed by strong starting pitching all week getting solid efforts from RHP Zach Miner (7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 6 SO), LHP Tom Cochran (5.0 IP, 0 ER, 4 SO), LHP Greg Smith (5.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER) & LHP Raul Valdes (2 GS, 11.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 10 SO)… Miner had his scoreless streak snapped at 14.1 IP by a Mauro Gomez HR on 6/5… The streak was the longest for LV this season… In his last 3 starts Miner is 2-0, 1.10 ERA (2 ER, 16.1 IP), 16 SO… LHP Jake Diekman earned Player of the Week honors (2 SV, 4 G, 4.0 IP 1 H, 2 BB, 8 SO) and has converted his last 7 SVO… RHP J.C. Ramirez earned his first SV of the season 6/8 vs Charlotte.
Reading Fightin Phils - Eastern League Eastern Division…23-37, 6th place…2-4 for the week… Reading finished the week a season-worst 14 G under the .500 mark… As a team, the Fightins hit .218 (36-for-165), and on the mound didn't fare much better posting a 5.17 team ERA (27 ER, 47.0 IP)… OF Anthony Hewitt was a bright spot for Reading, hitting .400 (6-for-15), HR, 2 2B, SB… Hewitt has hit safely in 13 of his last 16 G… C Sebastian Valle hit .333 and belted 2 HR… LHP Jesse Biddle (1 GS, CG, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 7 SO) was a tough luck loser in a complete game effort 6/8 vs Harrisburg… LHP Jay Johnson has allowed only 1 ER in his last 13.1 innings of work after 2.1 scoreless frames this week… RHP Carlos Zambrano (6.0 IP, 1 ER, 7 SO) continued his climb through the minors… In three starts between Clearwater (A) and REA (AA), Zambrano is 2-0, 0.55 ERA (1 ER, 16.1 IP)… The righty will make his first start with LV (AAA) on 6/13 vs Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Clearwater Threshers - Florida State League North Division…33-28, 2nd place… 4-3 for the week… OF Kelly Dugan hit .348 (8-for-23), 2 2B… Dugan leads both the organization and the FSL in batting average (.338)… 3B Maikel Franco hit .304 (7-for-23), 2 2B which gives him a FSL leading 23 two-baggers on the year… OF Aaron Altherr belted 2 HR with 7 RBI… Altherr added 2 2B putting his season total at 21, good for second behind Franco for the FSL lead… 1B Chris Serritella batted .316 (6-for 19), R, 3 RBI… LHP Hoby Milner (7.0 IP, 1 ER, 6 SO) has gone 5-0, 1.96 ERA (12 ER, 55.0 IP) with 54 SO over his last 9 starts… RHP's Colton Murray (2.0 IP) & Juan Sosa (3.0 IP) both had a scoreless week, each earning a SV… RHP Severino Gonzalez made his first start of the season going 4.0 innings, 1 ER, 5 SO… The ER was the first given up by Gonzalez in 19.2 innings of work (0.46 ERA)… Gonzalez has 22 SO to only 2 BB this season… LHP John Lannan went 4.0 innings, 1 ER, 5 SO in a rehab starts as he works his way back from a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee.
Lakewood BlueClaws - South Atlantic League North Division…24-36, 6th place… 1-4 for the week… Lakewood was outscored 46-11 this week… As a team, the BlueClaws hit .209 (31-for-148) while Lakewood pitching posted a 9.29 team ERA (32 ER, 31.0 IP)… 2B Alejandro Villalobos hit .455 (5-for-11), 3B… SS Roman Quinn had 4 hits and 3 SB… As of print Quinn leads team in SB (29) which is one swipe away from his total of 30 last year with Williamsport (A).
