Twins place Pelfrey on 15-day disabled list

Recall Hernandez from Triple-A Rocheste

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain (retroactive to June 19). Pelfrey was scheduled to start today in Cleveland.

To replace Pelfrey on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez from Triple-A Rochester. Hernandez went 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA (26. IP, 13 ER) over five appearances (four starts) with the Red Wings. This will be Hernandez' second stint with the Twins this season after going 2-1 with a 5.85 ERA (32.1 IP, 21 ER) over eight appearances (six starts). Hernandez will start today for the Twins in Cleveland.
