Pirates sign three more players from 2013 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following players from the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Scouting.

Nick Buckner (14th Round), OF, 6-1/205, North Shore (TX) High School
Was named the top baseball player in the state of Texas by MaxPreps.com this past January ... Hit .500 with 10 home runs as a junior in high school ... Was a 2013 Rawlings third-team All-American and a Texas All-Region first-team selection.

Billy Roth (16th Round), RHP, 6-3/190, Vista (CA) High School
Was a 2013 Rawlings third-team All-American selection and a California All-Region first-team selection ... Hit .410 in 35 games as a junior in high school ... Was also a 2011 and 2012 Underclass Honorable Mention selection.

Will Kendall (30th Round), LHP, 6-3/190, Auburn (AL) University
Went 0-5 in nine appearances (eight starts) and struck out 17 in 22.2 innings pitched as a junior this year ... Was 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 2012 prior to suffering a season-ending injury ... His 1.88 ERA was fourth in the SEC at the time of his seasonending injury and opponents were hitting just .226 against him ... Was a 2010 pre-season Under Armour All-American.

The Pirates have now signed 22 players from this year's draft.
