Royals to wear special caps to honor veterans on Independence Day
The Kansas City Royals and Major League Baseball join together in a special Independence Day tribute to veterans by wearing special Stars & Stripes caps during the afternoon game against the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, July 4.
In addition, this season's first Perfect Attendance Night will take place on Tuesday, July 2, recognizing school children who received perfect attendance during this last school year with complimentary tickets to watch the game. Royals Charities will also hold a 50/50 Raffle every night and partner with the MLB Players Alumni Association to host a concourse auctions on July 5 and 6.
Tuesday, July 2 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
· Perfect Attendance Night - More than 6,000 area elementary school children who achieve perfect attendance throughout the academic school year are honored at one of two Perfect Attendance Days (also July 24). The Royals salute these dedicated students with complimentary tickets.
· 50/50 Raffle presented by Edelman & Thompson - Royals Charities is hosting a 50/50 Raffle for every Royals home game in 2013, giving fans more chances to win big! Royals Charities staffers will sell raffle tickets from the time the gates open until the end of the sixth inning. One winning ticket will be selected with the winner taking home half of the evening's net proceeds. www.royals.com/5050.
Wednesday, July 3 - Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
· Dream Factory - Throughout the season, the Royals grant the wishes of Dream Factory children. These youngsters, who face life-altering challenges, will meet Royals players, watch batting practice from the dugout, and enjoy the game and refreshments. Their Royals experience appears on the KMBC-TV (Channel 9) 10 p.m. newscast.

· Welcome Back Veterans - The Royals, together with Major League Baseball Charities, Major League Baseball Advanced Media and the McCormick Foundation, support Welcome Back Veterans, an initiative designed to raise awareness and provide support for our veterans as they transition back to civilian life. On the field, both the Royals and Indians will wear special Stars & Stripes caps to honor veterans. · Royals Troopers - The Royals Grounds Crew welcomes select children who have a parent deployed through the United States military efforts overseas to join them in game preparations as part of the Royals Troopers program. The honored kids will help prepare the field prior to the game and will receive game tickets and Royals merchandise.
